Diabetes education
We are best known for our success in diabetes education. We have a four-hour type 2 diabetes programme that teaches attendees about diabetes, it’s impact on the body and how to make small, achievable changes to diet and lifestyle.
Our award-winning programme is accredited against best practice quality standards in the UK and has been delivered at scale to the UK’s NHS for over a decade, helping thousands of patients.
Adaptations
We know that one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to diabetes education. That’s why we’ve developed adaptations and add on modules to our type 2 course that you can licence. We are also open to discuss any additional tailoring you might need.
Age 18-39
Our Age 18-39 programme builds on our existing curriculum, including topics such as:
- Alcohol and recreational drugs
- Relationships and sex
- Starting college and university
- Working life
- Travel and holidays
- Starting a family
- Coping with emotions
Learning Disabilities
We have worked with a Learning Disabilities charity to adapt our programme for patients with learning disabilities. It is a seven-week programme with:
- Weekly two-hour sessions
- Interactive learning
- Measured pace of learning to suit participants
- Supported by easy-read materials
- Carers welcome to attend
Insulin and Type 2
Our Insulin and Type 2 module is a two-hour add-on programme tailored to patients who have been prescribed insulin.
It is delivered after attendance at the standard type 2 diabetes course and includes information on:
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Insulin types and action
- Injection technique
- Titration of medication
- Use of Continuous Glucose Monitors
Refresh
Our Refresh programme is a two-hour additional module that is designed to refresh a patient’s knowledge after they have attended any of our diabetes programmes.
- Typically delivered a year after initial attendance
- Shortened curriculum
- Lifestyle change oriented
- Keeps patients on the right track
- Can be tailored to patient cohorts
Culture and accessibility
We tailor our course to meet the needs of the participant cohorts or countries of delivery dependant on partners needs.
If you’re in the UK and require us to deliver diabetes education on your behalf, we are able to
- Deliver in Gujarati, Hindi and Urdu with content adapted to Asian diets.
- Deliver with translators and in British Sign Language.
- Deliver courses during the day, evenings and weekends
- Provide translated patient materials
